KC Bizfest is a four-day entrepreneurial training seminar and scholarship competition open to underserved high school juniors and seniors students from the Kansas City metro area. This program is free to the students.
The first competition was held in 2004 and continues to this day. KC BizFest students gain entrepreneurial experience, economic literacy, improved skills in math, reading, writing and verbal communication and workforce readiness. The program is supported each year by over 100 mentors and volunteers from various backgrounds.
The Greater Kansas City Hispanic Collaborative is the primary presenter in partnership with the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and its partners: more than 15 funding supporters including corporations, small businesses, colleges and universities.
The top three winners at KC BizFest will receive scholarship dollars applicable to a college/university of their choice. The fourth, fifth and sixth place winners will receive checks to be used to further their educational endeavors.
GCS's engineers and project managers have participated as mentors and volunteers during this annual four day event. Manuel David, GCS's president, is a proud member of the KC Bizfest steering commitee and has contributed as Co-Chair of the program for serveral years.
